Summary

McCormick & Company (NYSE: MKC) is a Fortune 500 global leader in spices, seasoning mixes, condiments and more, with over 14,000 employees worldwide. Many of the brands within its portfolio are category leaders and household names. In 2017, McCormick formed an in-house creative studio, with the mandate of building a team of subject matter experts to concept, develop, and produce best-in-class design work on brands such as Frank’s RedHot, Cholula, McCormick, French’s, and more. 

I was hired as the first advertising designer within this large, complex organization and was tasked with helping to develop and grow the in-house team. My role quickly grew in scope to include creative and art direction, developing brand identity guidelines and design best practices, managing and coaching a team of other designers, building and rolling out processes and ways of working, and ensuring the entire team’s deliverables were on brand, on time, and in full.
